I left Hive-HQ from Cape Town on the 28th December 2011 direct to Zurich on Swiss International bound for Gstaad my love.
When the B!s fly, we like to bring you little snippets and buzz-worthy news that may B! of interest to you. This particular trip was magical, the amount of snow was the most I have seen in years but! The best part of the trip was that I was going home to Gstaad.
My adopted home Kaap-Staad has something in common with Gstaad. They are both magnificent! Gstaad is a quaint fairyland village nestled in the Berner Oberland in the German-speaking section of the Canton of Berne and is only 1,050 meters (3,440 ft.) above sea level and Kaap-Staad is majestic on sea level.
Whatever one may think of the Jet set, Euro trash or Nouveaux riches the fascination remains. Gstaad has always been (but not a has-been) and still is today a playground for the rich and famous. The late and beautiful Liz Taylor, Julie Andrews, Roger Moore, David Niven, Peter Sellers, Johnny Hallyday, Taki Theodoracopulos, controversial writer for the Spectator and journalist, my previous boss Valentino, Countess Milgaros Branca my acquired sister, who has just published her own book Conseguenza D’Amore now translated into English (Consequence of Love) all enjoy this exclusive ski resort in the picturesque hot spot.
A new entry to Gstaad this Christmas was Madonna; the discreet buzz in the village was that it was time for the iconic Queen of Pop to make a hit on the slopes which among the locals became a smash hit for business. Even though Gstaad remains to B! one of the few places left where Paparazzi’s and Mamarazzi’s have a hard time catching up with the celebs the buzz-worthy news does get out in a quiet way. Choosing Gstaad as her destination for the holiday season was great publicity for such a tiny place in the mountains and coming here to B! with her family and friends especially Valentino and Giancarlo Giametti, was to spend quality time at the best of time.
Gstaad has been my buzz-worthy love for 30 years it is a great place to go. But, B! prepared to spend lots of moolah, B! fore and Après ski.
