Five For Change hit The Runway in Woodstock on Saturday 21st January 2012 for an innovative concept in raising funds for charity.
Under one umbrella in 35 degrees on Saturday night, Five For Change the charity event, came together and held a black tie function. Stepping up to the mark and joining the example of other major cities in the world i.e. NYC and London, Cape Town is finally on the map for holding an annual charity event.
In more ways than one, the social change has come about with the Big Five charities. MyLife, Green Pop, Write on Africa, African Brothers Football Academy and Let There Be Light who all brought the awareness and attention to everyone during the evening.
In my opinion, if you really want to make an impression, then a seated dinner is the only way to get the attention of the high rollers and if you really want a charity to B! a hit then lets respect the real reason for B! ing there, raising funds!
Who did do a sterling job were, By Invite Only and Prestige Communications. They had the right alchemy to make it happen with the support of the beautiful film star Kristanna Loken, who flew in from LA for the occasion, she should not have had to deal with the difficult task of trying to get the attention of the guests during the auction, while the cash bar remained open at the most crucial moment of the evening. It was a struggle to compete.
Kate George, from The Food Room was a hit, but the bigger hit was Jeremy Loops, followed by iScreamStix and Wedding DJs, they all turned up the beat in the heat so next time, please let there B! Aircon.
The Buzz Team did not go on to The Reserve for the after party, which by the way is not a small animal reserve; it is a small reserve for the party animal.
